The journey to Ballucci began in 2015 with a simple idea and a strategic business plan. In 2016, our founder left a career at British Airways to pursue the venture full-time. Ten months of intensive preparation followed, including completing business courses, securing financing, and finding the ideal location. After finally getting the keys to the premises on 1st August 2017, building work started immediately. Because funds were tight, our founder took on much of the physical labour himself—laying the floors, painting, and decorating the shop. All this hard work paid off when Ballucci officially opened its doors on 27th September 2017.
The first year brought steep challenges. Operating without a profit, our founder worked double shifts seven days a week to keep costs low and build momentum. That hands-on persistence slowly established a loyal customer base—including regulars who still visit us every day. As popularity grew and the business turned profitable, demand quickly outpaced our space. The shop became too small to seat the daily influx of guests, and we were reluctantly turning people away. Lacking a kitchen and short on physical space, we had endless ideas for expansion, but our original setup had reached its limits.
After five years of building our foundation in Isleworth, we were ready for our next chapter. Following a year of planning, our second location opened in Hounslow on 1st June 2023. Having a significantly larger footprint gave us the freedom to innovate and expand our vision under one roof.
On 10th February 2024, we introduced our Cocktail Bar at Hounslow—an evening venue operating Tuesday to Saturday with its own distinct team and a menu featuring gourmet burgers and creative signature cocktails. We also began hosting evening events and private hires.
We expanded further on 24th February 2025 with a chef-led Brunch service from Wednesday to Sunday, which quickly became very popular with our customers.
With this extra space, we finally had the room to spread our wings and expand the business into what we always wanted it to be. While both stores continue to serve our signature house-blend coffee, freshly made sandwiches, cakes, and pastries, we can now offer our customers so much more. We don't know what the future holds for Ballucci, but we are certainly not done yet. The dream is to expand even further, but for now, we are proud with where we are and what we've built.
